Abstract

On September 25, the "4th Southern Pavement Technology Innovation Forum" and the "4th Academic Annual Conference of the Highway Maintenance Professional Committee of Guizhou Provincial Highway Society" were held in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. As a vice-chair unit of the Guizhou Provincial Highway Society and the event organizer, Changda Transportation delivered a keynote speech at the conference and showcased its latest maintenance technologies and products on-site.

This event is themed "Smart Infrastructure Development & Maintenance, Green Transportation, and Leading the Future," and invites seasoned experts, scholars, senior executives from leading enterprises, pioneering technology leaders, and industry professionals to engage in discussions and exchanges centered on topics such as modernized highway maintenance, cutting-edge smart operation and maintenance technologies, and practical applications.

Changda Transportation's Chief Engineer Fan Hongwei was invited to attend the event and delivered a keynote report titled "Research on the Full Lifecycle Application of Highway Traffic Markings in Guizhou Province" at the "Subgrade and Pavement" sub-forum. In his presentation, he introduced a groundbreaking new concept for marking management centered around "gradient-based design," aimed at enhancing the durability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of highway markings while optimizing the overall lifecycle costs of the markings. The report highlighted that currently, Guizhou Province has approximately 10.81 million square meters of active highway markings, with annual maintenance costs ranging from 160 million to 270 million yuan. Yet, issues such as marking wear and inadequate retroreflective performance remain widespread, not only increasing driving safety risks but also posing potential legal challenges for management authorities.

To address this, he proposed a "gradient-based design" solution in the report, advocating for differentiated selection of pavement marking materials and application techniques based on factors such as road classification, traffic volume, and climatic conditions. For instance, on highway sections with a high proportion of trucks, he recommended using highly durable markings with a service life of at least 2 years. Meanwhile, in areas prone to heavy rainfall, snowfall, or those featuring challenging terrain, raised or oscillating-type markings were suggested to enhance visibility and improve skid resistance.

The report emphasizes that priority should be given to selecting Two-component coating Strengthen grassroots-level management and standardize maintenance procedures, particularly ensuring that cement concrete pavements are protected against chemical corrosion and properly constructed with expansion joints. Through scientific planning and meticulous management, we can achieve road markings that are "visible, clearly legible, and long-lasting," thereby significantly enhancing both the operational efficiency and safety of roadways.

In recent years, Changda Transportation has steadily deepened its presence in the Guizhou market, vigorously promoting comprehensive lifecycle maintenance technologies centered around two-component road markings. Addressing Guizhou's unique conditions—characterized by mountainous terrain, frequent rainfall, complex climate patterns, and a relatively high proportion of heavy-load traffic—the company has actively engaged in multi-level technical exchanges and collaborations with regulatory and design authorities. Through numerous specialized seminars, on-site observations, and continuous scheme optimizations, Changda has fostered a seamless integration of marking technology with local needs.

To verify the suitability of two-component road markings in Guizhou's unique environmental conditions, Changda Traffic implemented numerous trial projects across several typical road sections, covering a variety of road types—including highways, national and provincial arterial roads, and urban thoroughfares. Systematic monitoring and testing demonstrated that the two-component markings performed exceptionally well in terms of retroreflectivity, skid resistance, and durability. Notably, they exhibited significant advantages in tear resistance and abrasion resistance, effectively addressing the challenges posed by Guizhou's heavy traffic volumes and complex climate conditions. As a result, the service life of the markings was markedly extended, while also enhancing nighttime driving safety on the roads.

As the sole marking specialist unit in Guizhou Province's long-term maintenance project, Changda Traffic Development's groove marking technology has garnered significant attention. Tailored specifically to Guizhou's unique road conditions, this technology boasts excellent drainage and compression resistance, effectively preventing water film from compromising visibility of the markings during rainy or foggy weather. Currently, the technology has earned high praise from the project owner and has been included on the list for promoting marking technologies and products.

Leveraging its solid technological expertise and successful project implementations, Changda Transportation has steadily enhanced its brand influence in Guizhou Province, while continuously expanding its market share. The company remains committed to driving growth through technological innovation and supporting this with localized services. Actively participating in the construction and maintenance of Guizhou's transportation infrastructure, Changda Transportation is dedicated to contributing its professional expertise toward improving the region's road network safety and operational efficiency.
